In the Penal Colony
April 25, 26, 27, 28 & May 2, 3, 4, 5
CSULB Studio Theater
An explorer visits an island where blind conformity has no rational connection between crime and punishment. Kafka's ingenious metaphor about man's inhumanity to man is heightened by Glass' hypnotic score. Witness the internal conflict of the innocent bystander; to act or to do nothing.

Next Conversation April 30th, at 6:00PM
All conversations are free.
Long Beach Opera believes that discussions inspired by art should extend beyond the lobby of the theater. For this reason, LBO is using its 40th anniversary season theme, Justice, as a catalyst to present its brand new event series The Community Conversations Initiative. This initiative features five "Conversations" and three youth programs, and will create community-wide discussions about race, equity, and the justice system throughout Long Beach.Learn More RSVP Now
Our 20+20 Campaign
We’re celebrating! This season marks Artistic & General Director Andreas Mistisek’s 20th Anniversary with LBO, and LBO’s 40th Anniversary season. In celebration of these historic events, LBO has launched the 20+20 campaign in support of the company’s future growth. Over the past 10 years, LBO’s annual budget has increased by over one million dollars. This growth has allowed LBO to introduce new audiences both young and old to opera while maintaining a strong artistic profile. The 20+20 campaign will allow LBO to sustain and grow while continuing to innovate and diversify for the next 40 years and beyond.DONATE NOW
