Jason Heemang Griffin is a composer and pianist active in LA and Orange Counties. He began learning piano from an early age and during his high school years performed as a soloist for several local orchestras in the South Bay Area. At Stanford, he had provided piano accompaniment to vocal studios as well as student and professional stage productions while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in composition (of which researching Korean traditional music in Seoul and Yeosu occupied the central research focus). He then decided to move back down to his native LA county to complete a Master’s in composition at Cal State Long Beach, unfortunately coinciding with the Covid lockdowns. Nevertheless, he now has an active schedule of teaching piano and freelancing piano accompaniment while now expanding his compositional interests to integrate North Asian music and cultures (such as Kazakh, Kyrgyz, and Sakha). Jason is happy to return back to the Acquaprofonda pit after the successful inaugural performances last year!
