Jason Griffin

Jason griffin Bio

Jason Heemang Griffin is a composer and pianist active in LA and Orange Counties. He began learning piano from an early age and progressed to performing piano concertos as a soloist for several local orchestras in the South Bay Area during his high school years. He continued playing piano by providing piano accompaniment to vocal studios and more than thirteen student and professional productions during his undergraduate time at Stanford, where he pursued a composition degree (which included researching Korean traditional music in Seoul and Yeosu). He then decided to move back down to his native LA county to complete a Master’s in composition at Cal State Long Beach, which unfortunately coincided with the Covid lockdowns. Nevertheless, he now has an active schedule of teaching piano and freelancing piano accompaniment while continuing his central compositional research goal of integrating linguistic elements (of Korean and other Northern Asian languages) to music in collaboration with Anqi Liu. Jason is particularly looking forward to the Acquaprofonda performances as it would be his first stage production involvement since moving back to LA!
