OUR 2026-27 IS
COMING
TO LIFE
Long Beach Opera (LBO)’s 2026-27 programming is built on the idea that opera is most alive when it meets audiences where they are: in aquariums, on historic ships, inside the rehearsal room itself. Each work dissolves the boundary between art and audience, embracing opera as a living, breathing process – bold, accessible, and stubbornly present.
Please note: this is just the beginning. new programming will be announced throughout the year.

WORKSHOP
SPRING 2026
UCLA CAMPUS
LBO, Wild Up & Opera UCLA present a workshop of The Passion of Nell – an original opera composed by LBO Studio Artist Shelley Washington with libretto Lisa Teasley. The work tells the true story of Nell Theobald, a model whose obsession with soprano Birgit Nilsson ended in tragedy. Performed with a full orchestra, this FREE workshop invites audiences into the making of a new work before its world premiere.
